 ry is to understand the set of rational solutions to (a system of) polyno
 mial equations with integer coefficients. One approach is to study the sp
 ace consisting of the complex number solutions to these polynomial equati
 ons. This space is considered as an algebraic curve whenever it has one d
 imension. \nIn this talk\, we would explore some basic properties of alge
 braic curves and explain some relationships among their geometric and alg
 ebraic properties with the number of rational points. Some concrete examp
